Biography
Elder Dr. Howard E. McNair was born April 6th in Wayne County, North Carolina. He attended Goldsboro City Schools and graduated in the class of 1965 from Dillard High School. He is the only son of the late Marie McNair Parker.
Pastor McNair has attended Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Illinois; Shaw University, Raleigh, North Carolina; Trinity Bible College, Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Hampton Ministers’ Institute, Hampton, Virginia. He has also completed studies at Trinity Bible College, Grand Rapids, Michigan. In July of 1995, Elder McNair was bestowed an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from the United Christian College.
Pastor McNair was reared in the Baptist Denomination until the age of 14 when he accepted the call to the ministry and joined Guiding Star United Holy Church, Goldsboro, North Carolina in 1957 under the late Bishop J. D. Brown. He embarked on an evangelistic campaign which continues to lead men and women to Jesus Christ.
He began serving as an Associate Minister at New Stoney Hill United Holy Church, Goldsboro, NC under the late Rev. B. B. Dunn in 1964. He has served as Pastor for Mount Olive Holy Church, Bennettsville, South Carolina; Holy Temple United Holy Church, Henderson, North Carolina; Calvary Temple Holy Church, Henderson, North Carolina; Morton Temple Holy Church, Greensboro, North Carolina; and Faith Tabernacle Holy Church, Stantonsburg, North Carolina.
He is a former instructor for the United Christian College, Goldsboro, North Carolina. He is fondly remembered for teaching Biblical Preaching, Church Doctrine, and Scriptural Interpretation.
Dr. McNair has served as Pastor of New Stoney Hill United Holy Church, Goldsboro, North Carolina for more than fifty-five years. He is a former District Elder for the Southern District Convocation and past President of the Eastern District Union. He has also served as Co-Chairperson for the Board of Elders of the Southern District Convocation.
Pastor McNair has been blessed with a lovely and supportive wife, First Lady Veda Horton McNair; two wonderful children, Mrs. Tamika M. (James) Waddell and Mr. Howard E. (LaMonica) McNair, Jr.; and a precious granddaughter, Kourtlynn.
